I haven't blogged in a while.
I started blogging about 7 years ago when we lived in Scotland, and it was a great way to share our adventure with friends and family back home. I was hooked, and continued blogging as a way of just staying connected with others, and keeping a "journal" of my family. All of my friends had blogs too, but over the years I've seen many of them just stop blogging all together. But not me! I still found blogging to be the best way to preserve our family memories.
However, one of my blog-quitting friends said something that kind of stayed with me. She said "blogging is just one more thing to be behind on"And that's me. I'm behind.
There are so many projects around the house that I need to get to.
I'm behind on laundry. Always.
I'm behind on cleaning. Always.
I'm behind on a project for church
I'm behind on the book I'm reading for our book club
I'm behind on the sewing projects/repairs stacked on my desk
I'm behind on Dr.'s check-ups
I'm behind on my blog
...and on and on
The truth is, though I have an endless to-do list of tasks and projects, when I happen to have "free time"... I never want to work on this list. I could blog, or I could cuddle up with Josh and watch a movie. I could stitch up that skirt that Scarlett ripped, or I could walk the girls to the park. And though I don't regret these choices, there is still that Type-A personality of mine that really needs to get these things on my "to-do" list checked off.
Or just shorten my to-do list.
And that is why I've decided to take a break from blogging while our life at home is in full-swing. 4 busy kids and a hubby who travels are enough to keep me busy.
For now I am still "documenting" our family adventures on Instagram. It's quick and easy and I can slap all my posts together in a chatbook at the end of the year. I don't write as much, but at least it's something. Here's a few abbreviated updates from 2015 so far... (follow me on Instagram - vietscj - because this may be my last blog post. ever.)
| We went on our annual couples trip to Mexico - this time to Playa del Carmen. We had a blast snorkeling, relaxing, and enjoying the sun - in February! There are plenty of laughs with this crew. |
| We met up with Ben, Sarah, Chelsea and Madison for Easter break, as usual. This time we got a condo in Big Sky, and it was still snowing in mid-April...which was great for us. |
In June - it's time to get the boat out. Our favorite place is Bighorn Canyon, which stretches across the Montana/Wyoming border. When we don't want to make the 2hr drive, we hit Cooney or Dead Man's Basin. Josh likes wake surfing and wakeboarding, I stick to skiing, and the girls tried kneeboarding, but love tubing more than anything.
The big event of the summer - Chelsea got married! We are all so incredibly happy for her and Madison, Dustin is wonderful.
And we got some great dresses from grandma out of the deal.
And most recently...
And that's the first half of 2015 for the Viets family. I didn't even get into all the events and activities the girls were involved in. Maybe I'll blog about that next year ;)
